The Google Pixel 9’s release date

Google is expected to continue unveiling new Pixel devices in the first week of October.

The Pixel 9’s likely October launch date in 2024 is consistent with Google’s current strategy. Previous Pixel phone release dates have been consistent, underscoring this preference. For example, the Pixel 8 / 8 Pro was released on October 4, 2023; the Pixel 7 / 7 Pro on October 6, 2022; and the Pixel 6 / 6 Pro on October 19, 2021. This trend dates back to the original Pixel, which was released on October 4, 2016.

Buyers can anticipate the Made By Google 2024 launch in early October, with products hitting store shelves a week after the official announcement.

Google Pixel 9 Price

There is currently no information available on the price of the upcoming Google Pixel 9, but it is expected to increase. Indeed, rumors suggest a higher price than the Pixel 8 or Pixel 7.

In comparison to their predecessors, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro followed this trend, both experiencing price increases compared to the previous generation’s Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

The futur design

According to a leaked device roadmap published online, Google is currently developing three Pixel 9 models: a mainstream Pixel 9 and two sizes for the Pixel 9 Pro.

These specifications indicate that the Pixel 9 is anticipated to feature a 6.17-inch screen, with the two Pro models boasting screens measuring 6.3 inches and 6.7 inches respectively.

They will most likely bear Google’s new Actua and Super Actua branding, indicating adaptive refresh rates and ultra-high brightness. However, rumors contradict these figures, implying that the Pixel 9 series will feature larger screen sizes overall.

It appears that Google’s Tensor, designed by Google and manufactured by Samsung, will make a comeback, rather than fully internal chips.

Additionally, each model will be available in three different colors. However, it is unclear whether Google will reintroduce the frosted glass from the Pixel 8 Pro into both Pixel 9 models, or if the smaller model will keep its more reflective, mirror-like finish.

The Google Pixel 9 camera details

The Pixel 8 series switched to the Samsung Isocell GN2 sensor, which is a 50 MP camera with several improvements. This includes 35% faster light processing, 8K/30fps video capture, and staggered HDR technology.

It is highly likely that the Pixel 9 series will keep this primary camera. However, it is unclear whether the Pixel 9’s aging ultra-wide-angle lens will be upgraded as well.

Anticipating changes for the Pixel 9 Pro proves to be a more complicated task. However, given Google’s usual practice of introducing yearly upgrades to its Pro lineup, improvements can be expected, whether in the ultra-wide-angle lens, telephoto lens, or a combination of the two.

Furthermore, it would not be surprising if Google improves the selfie camera hardware in the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro models. The Pixel 8 lineup retained the same Samsung 3J1 sensor (11 MP) as the Pixel 7 family, implying that an upgrade is coming in 2024.

Performance and storage

The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are expected to be the first two phones to launch with pre-installed Android 15, just as the Pixel 8 series did with Android 14. However, it is still too early to know what to expect from the upcoming major operating system upgrade. Development versions typically begin in February, but we should receive additional information throughout the year.

Similarly, based on the Pixel 8, the Pixel 9 series is likely to receive seven years of ongoing operating system updates, ensuring support until 2031.

Google Pixel 9 battery

The battery capacity of the upcoming Google Pixel 9 is currently unknown. Battery specifications are important in determining smartphone performance, but for the time being, Pixel enthusiasts must be patient.

The lack of details at this point naturally piques the curiosity of users eager to discover more about the Pixel 9, especially regarding its battery life and power features.
