Release date

October 25, 2019

The Pixel 4 is currently only available for sale through retailers while supplies last. As of August 2020, Google has discontinued the sale of the Pixel 4 in its own stores in Canada and the US. The Pixel 4 was one of the only flagship device released in 2019 with a 90Hz display, motion sense technology and two excellent cameras in the back (telephoto and wide-angle lens).

  1. 90 Hz smooth display: For those unfamiliar, most phones, including Apple flagships, feature a 60HZ display. A 90Hz display is smoother when scrolling and easier on the eyes - much like the difference between a 60Hz TV screen and a 120Hz one. The Pixel 4 was the first mainstream flagship phone to feature a 90Hz screen.
  2. Fantastic Cameras: Pixel phones have been known for their camera technologies and the Pixel 4 is no different. Video, as well as photos from both its cameras, offer industry-leading performance in daylight, lowlight and everything in between.
  3. Android updates: Google phones are the fastest to receive new features and updates on Android. Google also guarantees three years of Android updates on its phones.

  1. Short battery life: The Google Pixel 4 has a mere 2800mAh battery to power its Snapdragon 855 processor, the 90Hz screen as well as Google’s new and proprietary Motion Sense Technology - not to mention the cameras and everything else. This directly impacts battery life performance with most user reviews showing the battery lasting less than a day between charges. This has been the Pixel 4’s biggest drawback. In comparison, the Pixel 4 XL has a bigger battery and does not have the same battery life issues. If you are considering the Pixel 4, for the sake of battery life alone, we urge you to consider the Pixel 4 XL.
  2. No longer available on the Google Store: Now that the Google Pixel 4 is no longer being sold on the Google Store, you can only go to resellers and your mobile service provider to get your hands on this phone. However, we recommend getting the Google Pixel 5 or going for the much more affordable Google Pixel 4a.
